Employee Spotlight: Brad Robinson

Posted By Tyler Graves on October 09, 2015

I’m pleased to announce Brad Robinson as our October Robinson_BradEmployee of the Month!

We asked Brad a few questions about himself so you could get to know him better.

What are your roles and responsibilities for clients of Wessler Engineering?

My title is Construction Services Group Head. One of my main responsibilities is the management and scheduling of our RPR's. Other responsibilities include support to the design team in providing cost estimates, QA/QC, and constructability reviews and feedback. I also perform Project Manager duties during construction for several of our projects. Hopefully, this involvement helps to provide a better end product to the client.

Excluding "good communication," what is the most important aspect of the relationship between an engineering firm and a contractor?

A mutual understanding of the definition of success, and a respect for each other is very important. The more we know and understand each other’s concerns and challenges, the easier it becomes to resolve issues that detract from meeting the goals.

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

Yesterday...every day really. Just this afternoon I Googled  "How do you connect a dishwasher to a granite countertop", and after 15 minutes of research, I ordered a part I never knew existed. I've always been a DIY'er. I think it's fun and exciting to research and find new and better ways to do things.

What's the most important lesson you have learned over the last year?

Groundhogs like cantaloupe. I trapped two in one weekend around my house with 1/2 a melon.

What is the first costume you remember wearing for Halloween?

I really loved sports as a kid, and we used to make our own costumes. One of the earliest I remember was probably the best third baseman of all time, Brooks Robinson of the Baltimore Orioles.

Tell us one thing you want each of your clients to know about you.

I am never late unless something happens totally out of my control. I am usually at least 10 to 15 minutes early for any meeting or appointment.

If you were to tell one person "Thank You for helping me become the person I am today," who would it be and what did they do?

Although technically not one person, it would definitely be my parents. They  provided a great classic family environment, instilled values, and respect, and taught me to be independent.

What does the Wessler way mean to you?

To me it's simply doing what's best for the client and assisting co-workers in that same goal.
