Employee Spotlight: Brad Robertson

Posted By Tyler Graves on November 13, 2015

I’m pleased to announce Brad Robertson as our Brad_Robertson
November Employee of the Month!

We asked Brad a few questions about himself so you could get to know him better.

What are your roles and responsibilities for clients of Wessler Engineering?

Lead crews in the performance of smoke testing, manhole inspections, dye testing, wet weather inspections, sump pump inspections and other field related services that Wessler offers. The majority of my time is spent overseeing day to day inspections on Citizens Energy Group (CEG) Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Projects, overseeing our sub-consultants in the field, reviewing Daily Field Reports, and addressing homeowner concerns when they arise.

Last month’s Wessler Employee spotlight was Brad Robinson, how often do you receive each other's emails? Does it happen more internally or externally?

Most definitely externally! The volume of phone calls, and voicemails outweigh the emails by far. Keeps it interesting, and often times comical.

You enjoy spending time with your wife and two sons. What is your favorite part about being a dad?

I have tried to live by the Bible verse in Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it”. My wife Kellie and I have been truly blessed with two (2) intelligent and healthy gentlemen. Being home each evening and watching them grow the way we have raised them has been such a joy and to watch them succeed in life and their chosen activities; so that would have to be my favorite part. Our oldest son Riley is a freshman at Purdue University majoring in Computer Science and our youngest son Casey, a freshman at Greenwood High School, is active in soccer and basketball.

What is the most important lesson you have learned over the last year?

That there are 86,400 seconds in a day, it’s up to me to decide how to manage and what to do with them.

You are an avid sports fan, how is your job as the Field Services Manager similar to that of a referee?

The referee has a rule book to enforce the rules and calls it like he sees it, as an inspector I have a specification book to enforce and observe if the work is being completed per plan as I see it. Having been a referee, it’s much easier than being an inspector.

Tell us one thing you want each of your clients to know about you?

That I pride myself in giving my best at all times.

What does the “Wessler Way” mean to you?

Giving our client the best deliverable product possible, and keeping our word.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, do you have any unique family traditions? (Word around the office is, you change your backyard into a football field.)

Yes, that is true! When we bought our home my only request was a big enough backyard to have a football field in the fall, and a baseball field in the summer for our boys and their friends to enjoy. The annual Turkey Bowl is played either Wednesday before Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving morning depending on the weather. Usually we have between 14 and 22 kids that attend, each kid taking home a jersey when they leave. Usually takes me 4 hours to prepare the field, leaving me with a lifetime of memories.
