Employee Spotlight: Kasey Marley

Posted By Seth Morin on November 23, 2016

Wessler is pleased to announce Kasey Marley as our Employee of the Month! We asked Kasey a few questions about herself so you could get to know her better.

Marley, Kasey.jpgWhat are your roles and responsibilities for clients of Wessler Engineering?

My roles and responsibilities as an Engineer in the Stormwater Group include compiling studies, planning, and designing stormwater infiltration and collection system projects, evaluating existing stormwater infrastructure, and providing cost-effective solutions while promoting green infrastructure design, when applicable.

Tell us one thing you want each of our clients to know about you.

I am a big fan of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. My grandpa was a crew chief for the Drewery’s 88 car back in the 60s. Every year since I can remember, I’ve been going to the track with my family. We always have a huge celebration for the Indy 500 that’s been happening every year for 30 years now. Let’s just say May is my family’s favorite month.

What does the "Wessler Way" mean to you?

The "Wessler Way", to me is a commitment to our clients, passion for our projects, and respect for our fellow employees. From the very first day here, I've always felt like part of the family.

What is the most important lesson you have learned over the last year?

I have learned so much every day since starting this position, but the most important lesson I’ve learned is there is so much to learn from the people you work with. I have the best mentors!

Outside of work, what are some of your favorite hobbies?Kasey's dog.jpg

Some of my favorite hobbies include playing in a volleyball league with my awesome team, going to concerts, and checking out all the events and sights Indy has to offer. I recently adopted a dog, Duffy, and am now always on the look-out for dog-friendly restaurants and breweries. We also enjoy venturing out to the parks in the surrounding area and discovering new trails to hike.

What attracted you to this industry?

I actually was first interested in the industry when I was in Junior High. I have always cared about the environment and loved math, so when I learned about a discipline of engineering that focused on the treatment and reuse of water, I knew that was something I wanted to be a part of.

You are a Dale Carnegie Training Graduate, tell us more about that.

The Dale Carnegie Course taught me valuable skills to be more successful in both my work and personal life. The course focused on effective communication and leadership skills that instilled confidence in public speaking, leading team projects, and stressed the importance of being engaged in your work.

Do you have any Black Friday traditions? Are you one of those people that gets up early, or just never goes to sleep, in order to take advantage of some great deals?

My Black Friday traditions consist of going to bed early and sleeping in late. I've only gone Black Friday shopping at midnight once and that was enough for me. This year, I plan on spending the day relaxing with my friends and family.
