Alphabet Soup of Engineering Credentials: So, Wait, What Does that Mean?

When reading an engineer's title, most of the time their names are followed by P.E., B.C.E.E. or some form of alphabet soup. Well, as you may guess, the random letters actually do mean something. But to save you some time from having to search "what is XYZ?," we compiled a list of some of the most popular civil engineering acronyms for you to view in one place.

BCEE - Board Certified Environmental Engineer

CESSWI - Certified Erosion, Sediment and Storm Water Inspector

CFM - Certified Floodplain Manager

CHMM - Certified Hazardous Materials Manager

CPESC - Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control

EI - Engineer Intern

LEED AP - Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, Accredited Professional

PE - Professional Engineer

PLS - Professional Land Surveyor

RLS - Registered Land Surveyor

RPR - Resident Project Representative
